  1. Introductions and vision building question musing by each of us.
    • What is my vision for the world that I want to live in?
    • What do I see myself doing for that to come about? (What contribution?)
    • What kind of ancestor do I wish to be?  What am I leaving behind for future generations?
    • How is my life today connected to my vision of the future?
    • What skills do I have now to create my vision?
    • What skills do I need to develop to create my vision? 
       
  2. Agenda Review
    • Future meeting locations-GMO only at UU on 3rd Monday-1st, 2nd and 4th need place
    • No location for next week’s meeting

    • Global March Against Monsanto in October
    • Phone banking to support GMO labeling in Washington state election
    • Revised By mAny Means Necessary proposal
    • Town Hall and Hoedown at Sebastopol Grange would be better for Fall event
    • Someone wants to propose two meetings a month instead of three or four-will revisit
    • House meetings to show World According to Monsanto-put off to future plans as members who proposed it have not attended
       
  3. Reports Back
    • Someone brought up the August 12th Media Skills Training for discussion of space use. Someone will follow up about use of space at the UU.
    • Someone reported on August 12th media skills training.  All OSC people are requested to attend-important that we all have a basic ability to give interviews using talking points, write and issue a press release, and organize a basic media campaign.  Peter Phillips from SSU will be leading the training.  Activists in the community are invited – we are sharing these skills with the wider community.  A simple supper will be planned similar to what we offered at the Facilitation training.
    • Two people are working on increasing Facebook likes for OSC page- Made contact with Washington State folks organizing GMO labeling initiative.
    • Someone has been working on the Media and Publicity group that is working together to promote OSC as a whole.  Anyone interested in working on the website or being involved with Media and Publicity please join the listserv by going here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!contactowner/osc-pc or contact admin@ocsoco.org.
    • Someone reported organizing against Paul Hobbs Orchard Conversion and upcoming picket and civil disobedience in front of Paul Hobbs Winery in Sebastopol.  (Flyers and info attached.)
       
  4. Meeting Location
    Group decided to meet at McDonalds for Monthly Meeting on Monday, July 22 unless an alternative location comes up before Saturday. Someone will send notice of any changes.  Someone will post the meeting location on the website.
     
  5. Washington State Labeling Initiative
    Someone proposed that OSC organize phone banking here in support of I522 GMO labeling initiative in Washington State. Proposal approved without any strong objections- Someone wants to review text of I522 initiative. Someone will contact I522 people to coordinate our phone bank with them and send people who wish to phone bank individually directly to them.
     
  6. GMO Page On Website
    Request input and assistance for OSC webpage GMO campaign page.  Access GMO page at: http://gmo.ocsoco.org or http://gmo.occupysonomacounty.org.
    Suggestions included article attached and included below, Myth busting info, Add  approved proposal of phone banking to website as separate item. Organize volunteers to call with us or from home.
    Newsletters about GMO link on GMO webpage. Organic Consumers Association, Union of Concerned Scientists, Institute For Responsible Technology.
     
  7. Global March Against Monsanto In October
    We discussed March Against Monsanto in October 2013.  March through neighborhoods again lead by the Hub Bub band.   We agreed to gather at City Hall, and end at Courthouse Square.  Details of march route to be discussed later.  We agreed after the march in May that we like the idea of marching through neighborhoods. Discussed possible after party at  Community Market.
     
    Someone will contact the PJC about printing our MAM flyer on the back of another flyer for the next Peace Press. Contact Karen Hudson about joining us again.  We would like to get endorsements from as many activist groups as we can: PJC, NBOP, MTM, Labor Council, etc.
     
    Note: Courthouse Square is not available on that day.  We will be discussing a new gathering or rally location on Monday.  If you have suggestions please contact us at 338-3791.

OSC will not be meeting on July 29.
